Some Vocabulary Used in Merlin Tuttle's Story:
Imperceptible means that you can’t even tell. (In this case, it means you can't even tell that a hibernating bat is breathing!)
Animals that migrate move from one area or place to another and back, usually each year.
A stopover is a place where a migrating animal “stops over” on its way to another place. (Sort of like when you stop at a motel on a long trip.)
Banding is a technique for tracking an animal’s travels by putting a band on its leg that tells when and where it was banded.
Hibernators are animals that hibernate.
